The character of MICHAEL GARIBALDI on BABYLON 5 is not too far from the real Jerry Doyle, as they both have high standards, audacity, are outspoken and have a vivid past. Like his character, he is not one for proceeding in life on the normal track.

At the height of a ten year career on Wall Street, Doyle decided to pursue a new profession. In 1991, Jerry packed up and headed to Hollywood. With no acting experience, Doyle hit the streets and the phones with a vengeance. Being told that a strong resume was important, he put one together with some rather dubious credits. Fortunately, no one questioned him, and to this day his performance with the Dance Theater of Harlem is still on there.

A combination of luck, timing and talent resulted in his almost immediately booking a role as a '"day player" on "The Bold and the Beautiful" - a part that lasted almost one year. Then came recurring roles on "Homefront", "Reasonable Doubts" and the animated series "Duckman". In July of 1992, he shot the pilot for BABYLON 5, and in 1998, completed his 110th episode and final season on the hit series, landing him on the cover of TV Guide. He recently starred in two TNT original movies, "THE RIVER OF SOULS" and "A CALL TO ARMS" and finished shooting the independent feature film "DEVIOUS BEINGS" in December 1999. Other series starring roles include "MARTIAL LAW", "SLIDERS" and "BEVERLY HILLS 90210".

Jerry can also be heard as the voice of Captain Simian in the animated series CAPTAIN SIMIAN AND THE SPACE MONKEYS. Part Captain Kirk, part Chuck Yeager and all monkey, Simian battles with his nemesis Nebula, the voice of Michael Dorn, and Rhesus II, Malcolm McDowell. In addition, he is the television and radio voice of many national and regional commercial campaigns. Doyle grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., the eldest son of a police officer and a stay at home mom. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, while also receiving his flight training. After graduation, he joined the marketing and sales division of Falcon Jet Corporation.

Active in the community, Jerry has previously served as President and five year Board Member of The Easter Seal Society, Multiple Sclerosis Board Member and the Board of Trustees for Children's Hospital. He has received numerous awards and accolades some of which include Honorary Test Pilot, F-16 Combined Test Force, Edwards AFB, for his support of the Flight Test Squadron and "nineg" ride, Honorary Naval Aviator for his two day visit aboard the USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64) where he made an arrested landing and catapult, Honorary Tar Heel by the Governor of North Carolina, and distinguished supporter of the Nation's Space Program by the Kennedy Space Center Director.

Organizations Jerry has helped raise both awareness of and funding for include Santa Monica- UCLA Medical Center, Breast Cancer, Disabled American Veteran's, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Motion Picture and Television Fund, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Neil Bogart Memorial Fund, T J Martel Foundation, Palm Springs Youth Charities, Aid's Walk - LA, Angel View Crippled Children's Foundation and many others. He continues to be active with many of the charities mentioned above.
