Voters invited to participate in 17th Distirct Congressional camapign
Smart voters- you are invited to participate directly in the Green Party's 17th District congressional candidacy. In accordance with Green principles we are offering this candidacy to you as a means for your own self-empowerment.

We are cultivating direct democracy. Rather than merely preaching dogma or professionally crafted rhetoric, we are listening to you, the people of the district, linking up with your organizations and developing positions that represent your views and address your needs.

Themes which have arisen so far include: Counter corporate domination with democracy, abolish the WTO, GATT and NAFTA; Replace militarism with feminism; Base policy on need not greed; Support workers' rights; Promote universal health care; End hunger, homelessness, and police abuse; Oppose all forms of discrimination; Ban pesticides and genetically engineered food; Promote organic farming; Stop deforestation, support reforestation; Contain the megalopolis; Clean-up Fort Ord safely; Legalize marijuana; Replace the Board of Regents with a student/faculty council.

This is your campaign. Get in touch and keep in touch. We will continue to assimilate input and develop these themes, and others which arise on this Smart Voter website. A good showing in the March 7th primary will give the candidacy a significant boost. Remember that anyone can vote Green and it will count. Spread the word. Empower your self.
