Michael D. Nevin was elected to the Daly City Council in 1982 and served as Mayor of Daly City in 1984 and 1989. He served as a member of the Daly City Planning Commission from 1979 - 1982, and also served as Chair during a portion of that time. From 1989 to 1992, he served on the Criminal Justice Council of San Mateo County and the Narcotics Task Force, a subcommittee of the Criminal Justice Council.

Supervisor Nevin is a member and past President of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Youth Organization, the largest youth organization in America. Since 1991, Mike has served on the Board of Directors of the Recreation Center for the Handicapped. Mike was educated at St. Ignatius High School, City College of San Francisco, and the University of San Francisco. Mike joined the San Francisco Police Department in 1965. He spent 27 years in the Police Department and held the rank of Inspector.

On June 2, 1992, Mike was elected to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.

Mike has been married to his wife, Kathleen, for 32 years, and they have three children: Mike, Jr., Michelle and Tim.
