When I was first elected to the county council in 1996, we had only three candidates for the seven available seats. This year we are putting forward a complete slate of seven candidates. That fact is symbolic of the progress we have made over the last four years.

During my tenure on the county council we have:

1) Doubled our annual donations

2) Registered as a political action committee with the State Fair Political Practices Commission and filed all of our required campaign finance reports

3) Inaugurated a newsletter that we mailed to all registered Greens in the county

4) Created a computerized data base that enables us to keep track of volunteers and contributors and do targeted mailings for special events and elections

5) Launched a series of monthly Green Talks that have brought in new volunteers and established links with other environmental and social justice organizations

6) Reached out to the non-Green community through tabling at the San Mateo County Fair, Coastal Protection Music Festival, Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival and presentations to local high schools and churches

If elected to another term on the Green Party County Council, I will continue my efforts to create a sound and sustainable organization.
