What I have accomplished and my goals if reelected

By Alexander J. Wong

Candidate for Democratic Party Central Committee; Assembly District 12

Made the DCCC an open organization, promoted diversity, stayed active in the community, registered voters, GOTV, developed preferences for MBE/WBE/DBE contractors.
I first ran for the SFDCCC four years ago. At that time, I heard people complain that the Democratic Party was full of backroom deals; its members were out of touch with the local, chartered, Democratic clubs; it awarded its contracts through a closed process to a non-diverse group of vendors; and that its members did not actually do anything. I ran on the platform of addressing those complaints and was elected.

During my four years on the DCCC, I have rewritten the bylaws to guarantee that all meetings are properly noticed and that nothing may be voted on unless the public has been properly notified. These changes guarantee that any and all votes are taken in public with advance notice. I am an officer and active member in 3 chartered Democratic Clubs. I ensure that these local organizations are in constant interaction with the party. I helped coauthor the rules that require all contracts to be publicly noticed, selected in an open process that gives preference points to minority/woman/disabled owned businesses. I have actively registered voters and walked precincts in each of the last four elections. I am proud of my record and my impact on the party. With your support, I hope to be reelected to continue this work.

Too much time is spent on infighting. With all of the factions within this city, most Democrats still agree on 90% of the issues. We must end the bitter in-fighting and work toward promoting a common agenda. We need to refocus are energy and attention on local issues that we can positively impact. If reelected, I will work with the new members of the DCCC to unite around a shared, progressive agenda.
