Affordable Housing & Transportation Solutions

By Terry Alan Trumbull

Candidate for Supervisor; County of Santa Clara; Supervisorial District 5

This information is provided by the candidate
Santa Clara County has not dealt effectively with our spectacular business prosperity and job growth. We have not provided nearby housing for our jobs, and, as a result, we have overpriced housing and clogged highways. If past trends continue the county will add half a million new job, but 2/5 of the job holders will not be able to find housing. Trumbull will work to create sustainable development (more dense, mixed-use residential development on transit corridors), rezoning of industrial lands in cities with heavy job balances, significant addition of housing on Stanford lands and continuation of Joe Simitian's advocacy for housing projects. Additionally, Trumbull will advocate to create a 3-county Dumbarton Bridge District, similar to the Golden Gate Bridge district, which would allow purchase and use of rail across the railroad bridge and funding of increased bus usage in the corridor.
