Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Jerry Simmons

Candidate for
Republican Party County Central Committee; Supervisorial District 1

This information is provided by the candidate

The Santa Clara County Republican Central Committee runs the Republican Party within Santa Clara County. The local Republican Party needs strong leaders who will listen to our concerns and effectively convey them to local, state and federal policymakers. My BA in Political Science, law degree, and extensive community involvement make me uniquely suited for this task.

The local Republican party leaders need to be more effective at:

  • Registering new Republican voters.

  • Recruiting and grooming Republican candidates for local, state and federal offices.

  • Listening to voters and developing creative policy proposals to solve local community problems.

If elected, I would work with local, state and federal officials to address the following community issues:

  • Increasing the quality of our schools and colleges so that our children get a first class education; and creating financial aid programs that work for middle class families.

  • Opposing development of the Calpine Power Plant because it will pollute the air in our district and put our children's health at risk.

  • Pursuing legislation that would alleviate the severe shortage of affordable child care in our community.

  • Increasing funding for parks, libraries and transportation needs by using savings generated through the recent dramatic reductions in the welfare rolls.
