Nancy Pyle learned her ethic of hard work on her family's dairy farm near Syracuse, NY. A strong believer in the need for a college education, Nancy worked full-time to put herself through LeMoyne College (a sister institution of Santa Clara University). In 1960, she married and moved to San Jose, where she raised her family and taught in local public schools. She attended San Jose State University and received a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from USIU.

Times were not always easy for Nancy. Divorced and raising two children, Nancy forged ahead as a single working mother. In addition to teaching, Nancy worked a second job on weekends and summers as a licensed real estate agent. She has been married for 15 years to Roger, a small business owner.

Nancy won election to the San Jose/Evergreen Community College District Board in 1996 where she still serves. She chaired the successful Measure "I" campaign which is bringing $135.7M to the SJCC/EVC District and served as Board President.

Assemblyman Jim Cuneen selected her as the 1998 Outstanding Woman of the Year and Nancy was also selected as the San Jose / Exchange Club volunteer of the year in 1999.

Nancy serves on YWCA, Leyland High School Foundation and Notre Dame High School boards. She just completed four years on the San Jose City Commission for Disadvantaged Business Development and served as Program Director for the League of Women Voters. She is a sustaining member of Junior League and has lived in District 10 for nearly 20 years.
