This information is provided by the candidate

  • Santa Clara County Open Space Authority Citizens Advisory Committee Member
  • Former Parks and Recreation Commissioner, City of San Jose
  • Named Neighborhoods First! Volunteer of the Year (1996) by San Jose City Councilmember Pat Dando for outstanding community service
  • Engineer, Hewlett Packard Company
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, California State University, Sacramento

I live with my wife and daughter in San Jose and have lived all of my thirty-seven years in California. I have seen progress in our approach to development but I think we can do better. I would like to continue to help prevent the loss of open space and to preserve Santa Clara County's agricultural heritage through the works of the Santa Clara Open Space Authority.

As a member of the Open Space Authority (OSA) Citizens Advisory Committee, I have made recommendations to the OSA voting board on methods of evaluating sites for acquisition, the potential effects of Proposition 12, and other issues of importance to the board. Now I would like to be a voting member of the OSA board and I have the support of OSA board members.

I have spent many years working in the community and learning about the concerns of my Santa Clara county neighbors. As a volunteer, I have contributed to numerous wildlife studies and habitat preservation and restoration projects and have helped construct trails and cabins in recreational areas. I have also worked with several organizations in lobbying efforts to protect our open space and the environment.

Please mark Dave Poeschel on your sample ballot and take it with you to your polling place on Tuesday, March 7th. Thanks for joining me to help save our open space.
