Introduction Letter

By Joey Tomko

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Elk Grove

This information is provided by the candidate
My name is Joey Tomko and I am running for a position on the new Elk Grove City Council. My wife Carol and I have two small boys who attend Elk Grove schools. As a member of EGPAC and an active attendee of Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors meetings I want to be part of building the new incorporated city of Elk Grove.

Our Incorporation Committee has done a wonderful job bringing the incorporation of Elk Grove to the ballot. Now it is up to us to realize this great opportunity to bring local control of our tax dollars back to the residents of Elk Grove. With your support we can help build a strong foundation for the future of Elk Grove.

It is not too soon to have strong ideas about the future of Elk Grove. Serious candidates for City Council should have a plan for building a sound business base for running our city. We need a strong City Manager, and we should look nationwide to find the best candidate. We need good people for City Attorney, City Planner, and other essential staff. Contracting essential services such as fire, police, road and landscape maintenance is the smart choice for Elk Grove.

We must understand and manage the impact of development and new growth on the City of Elk Grove. The new city council should implement its own development and growth plan to preserve the quality of life we currently enjoy and attract new businesses and industries that are compatible with our growth plan.

We are a diverse but interconnected population. A sound representative government for Elk Grove must reflect the diversity of our community. East, West and Old Town Elk Grove all must be represented when we are discussing new projects that effect everyone.

I want what is best for Elk Grove for now and in the future, and want to work to bring a solid, logical, intelligent, honest and business-like government to the people of Elk Grove. We need to open the governing process to the people who have elected us. I believe an informed constituency is critical to participate in the decisions process.

With your help we can plan intelligently for the future. Some of my positions on specific subjects are discussed on the reverse of this sheet. Please take a look. Your feedback is very important.

Thank you for your support.
