Candidate for Judge of the Superior Court; County of Orange; Office 10

This information is provided by the candidate
I have been a practicing attorney for 21 years, 17 of which I have spend every day in a courtroom.
Dear Friends and Supporters:

For the last 21 years I have been licensed to practice law by the State Bar of California and a practicing attorney for the same period. I am also licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia. Having 21 years of experience investigating, and some trial experience as a prosecutor is by no means the same experience as 21 years of daily courtroom trial work. I have been a prosecutor for the City of Anaheim for the last 15 years. My office handles approximately 13,000 cases per year. I am endorsed by the Anaheim Police Officers Association, the largest Police Officers Association in the County of Orange along with many judges in Orange and the surrounding counties. However, having endorsements is not what makes you a good judicial officer, but the many years of handling a wide variety of cases from Family Law and Probate, to Toxic Polluters and wife beaters, along with drunk drivers and slum lords. I am extremely well qualified, for the job of Superior Court Judge for seat number 10 and I will make my rulings based, on the best interest of Orange County and the families that live here.

I started my career in private practice handling mostly civil cases ranging from Family Law to Probate to general Civil Litigation. During that time I represented people much like yourselves who needed a lawyer. During that time I was one of the first attorneys to file and win an inverse paternity suit, wherein the father sued for parental status of his child which was born out of wedlock. I have also taken all of the educational requirements to become a certified specialist in Family Law, but I decided I wanted to practice Criminal Law.

After four years in private practice I was hired by the Public Defenders Office in the County of Riverside. After a mere three months I was raised from a Deputy I to a Deputy II and three months later I was raised to a Deputy III, this kind of upward movement is unheard of in a Government job! I was then placed in charge of an outlying court in Perris California.

I am proud to have started my career of Government service representing indigent defendants but I am most satisfied with my service as a Prosecutor with the City of Anaheim. One of my most memorable cases was a man that held his estranged wife and 5 year old child hostage for 15 hours. During most of the night she was held at gun point with the gun pointed at the back of her neck. This case was not filed by the District Attorney's Office because she had recanted her testimony in the past, so the case was filed as a misdemeanor by our office. I took that case to trial and the defendant was sentenced to 8 years in jail (that is the most time that a defendant has ever received for a misdemeanor).

I have proven myself to be a tough and aggressive prosecutor. I am considered to be a fair prosecutor with proven integrity. Please join with Law Enforcement and many judges in Orange County, and vote for: TERESE S. OLIVER, PROSECUTOR FOR SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE, SEAT NO. 10

Thank you very much for your support,
