By Marc Kelly

Candidate for Judge of the Superior Court; County of Orange; Office 1

This information is provided by the candidate
NAME: Marc Kelly AGE: 39 OCCUPATION: Senior Deputy District Attorney

Law enforcement is overwhelmingly united behind my candidacy. Police, prosecutors, and crime victims support me because they know I will be a fair, no-nonsense Judge, who will support law and order for the citizens of Orange County.

As a Deputy District Attorney for 12 years, I have served you by prosecuting numerous felony crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, burglary, arson, spousal abuse, drugs, and street gang terrorism. I am currently a Senior Deputy District Attorney assigned to the Target Gang unit, which focuses on the prosecution and elimination of violent criminal street gangs.

For the last five years, I have convicted, and taken off the streets hundreds of gang members, and sent many of them to prison for life.

I strongly support Three Strikes, Victims Rights, and California's Death Penalty. I am endorsed by numerous Victims Rights organizations, including Crime Victims United and Citizens for Law and Order. I have worked closely with MADD in assisting victims in DUI-related homicides. (note the phrasing)

In 1999, I received the Victim-Witness Outstanding Prosecution and Human Service award for convicting three gang defendants of murder, in the tragic stabbing death of Michael Wasney, a 29-year old San Clemente grocery store employee.

I'm honored to be endorsed by:

Orange County Deputy District Attorneys Association
Orange County Deputy Sheriffs Association
Orange County Deputy Marshals Association
Orange County Attorneys Association
District Attorney Tony Rackauckas
Sheriff Michael Carona
Over 80 Judges and Commissioners
Numerous Police Chiefs, business and civic leaders
Presidents of the Hispanic, Vietnamese-American, and OC Women Lawyers Bar Associations

Police Associations: Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Habra, Orange, Santa Ana, Westminster, and Southern California Alliance of Law Enforcement (which represents over 30,000 law enforcement officers in Southern California).
I was raised in Southern California, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where I played on the basketball team for four years. My wife, Sara, and I have been married for 14 years and we have two sons. We are members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. I am active in the community where I coach youth soccer and basketball.

I have dedicated my career to fighting crime as a public servant. The safety of our neighborhoods and schools is my highest priority. Please allow me to continue to serve you by electing me as Superior Court Judge. I thank you in advance for your confidence and continued support.
