Court Unification

By Douglas G. Carnahan

Candidate for Judge of the Superior Court; Office 31

This information is provided by the candidate
Commissioner Carnahan supports the unification of our Municipal and Superior Courts, which became effective in Los Angeles County on January 22, 2000.
In 1998 the voters of California passed an initiative measure unifying the Municipal and Superior Courts in our counties, upon majority vote of the judges in those courts on a county-by-county basis.

The judges in Los Angeles County voted to unify effective January 22, 2000. This is a favorable development, and if elected I will work to see that unification of our courts continues on a basis such as to increase the efficiency of our court operations and improve the administration of justice in Los Angeles County.
