RO injection of treated waste water to ground water

RO treatment technology can produce high quality water from waste water, but subsurface injection into aquifers must have high public support and justification.
Although RO wastewater treatment facilities can indeed produce water suitable for ground-water injection, many residents still would prefer not to drink water derived from this source. Except for demonstration projects and tests (e.g., injection of potable water with tracers to determine where water flows underground), I will not support the injection of RO treated water into the ground water basin until public acceptance is much greater. And in this regard, I really question whether the DSRSD facility is really needed as a water supply project. Zone 7 has one of the most reliable supplies in the Bay Area and does not need water from this plant. Moreover, it is not clear what the ultimate impact of this facility will be on wastewater treatment rates for DSRSD's customers.
