Rebecca Kaplan is a community activist and public interest attorney who will bring an intelligent, energetic, dedicated and progressive voice to our city council. We need someone who will make serving the people of Oakland her priority, and will devote herself to improving the quality of life for all of us. Rebecca will work for a vibrant local economy in which local businesses can thrive and workers are paid a living wage. She will promote affordable housing, increased public transit, and grassroots democracy. Rebecca is well-trained for this position, with a B.S. from MIT, an M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy (Tufts University) and a J.D. from Stanford Law School, as well as experience working for the Federal Public Defenders (Oakland Office), the City of Cambridge Commission on the Status of Women, and the California State Assembly (Oakland Field Office). Rebecca has been endorsed by Ralph Nader, the National Women's Political Caucus, the Oakland Tenants Union, the Green Party, and many others. A vote for Rebecca is a vote for integrity, commitment, and justice.
