By Michael V. Johnson

Candidate for For School Director; Oakland Unified School District; District 7

This information is provided by the candidate
Without a vision the people perish. My vision for the Oakland Unified School District is built upon sound principles and includes everyone in in the process of preparing our schools for transformational change!
Oakland Public Schools require a clear vision for the future; a vision built on the foundation of communication, accountability and sound fiscal management. Now is the time to completely redefine public education as we know it! The politics of division will be replaced with a coherent strategy for education that improves academic performance, upgrades our facilities and supports our teachers and staff. I hold a Masters degree from UCLA; I'm an Alumnus of Leadership Oakland and a Board Member for the East Oakland Community Development Corporation. I'm a parent with a heart for Oakland, a vested interest in our schools, and a plan to transform them into the standard by which other schools are measured! We can't solve tomorrow's problems with yesterday's solutions. Oakland schools need a vision # I have one; you and I working together "Creating Schools That Work!" Vote for visionary leadership! All of our children deserve better!
