I am a lifelong resident of Oakland. I received my Bachelor in Arts from U.C. Berkeley in 1966. Then received a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from San Francisco State University in 1969. In 1971 I received my Master of Arts in Academic Psychology from U.C. Berkeley. I decided to stay in this area again for my doctorate, in 1973 I graduated from U.C. Berkeley for the last time, receiving a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology degree. In 1987 I received my Law Degree from the University of Hawaii. I did my post-doctoral training in mental Health Law. Mental health Administration (NIMH Advanced Training Program), Human Sexuality, Mediation.

Clinical Experience:

I am a licensed Psychologist in the state of California. I have worked with adults, young adults, adolescents, and children in a number of settings, including: Centro de Salud Mental and centro de Consejo, Oakland.

Psychology Clinic, U.C. Berkeley, Counseling Center, San Francisco University.

Mill College.

Anza Elementary School, San Francisco Educational opportunity Program, U.C. Berkeley.

Limited private practice through the years.

As gatekeeper for inpatient and Napa State Hospital admissions provide consultation to multi-disciplinary staff on a seven day week, twenty-four hour basis.

Public Experience:

I am a memeber of the Alameda County Board of Education. I have served on the Board of Directors of numerous organizations on the National, State, and Local level. Some of these include: Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF).

National Coalition of Hispanic Mental Health and Human Services Organization (COSSMHO).

National Hispanic Congress on Alcoholism.

State of California Citizens Advisory Council.

State of California Committe for the Protection of Human Subjects.

Bay Area Consumer Health Care Project, St. Luke's Hospital (S.F.).

Nueva Luz, Inc..

The Boards of the National Council on Alcoholism.

The Alameda County Mental Health Association.

The Narcotics Education League.

The Women's Institute for Mental Health.

I am currently working with the community, and in limited private practice and mediation
