Political Philosophy for Keith D. Moore

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Norwood; Ward 1

This information is provided by the candidate

I am running for a seat on Norwood City Council representing Ward 1 - As a homeowner and expectant father. I am very concerned about the future of our city. As an attorney, legal author, and editor. I will bring leadership, accountability. and fiscal responsibility to Norwood government. I believe in strengthening our neighborhoods, not just our tax base. I believe that we have been left out of the decision-making process by the current administration. And I believe that the City needs to stop piling up new debt and get it's; financial house in order.

A great place to live, not just a great place to shop. Norwood's future holds great promise, but we are on the brink of losing our identity. Our efforts should Focus on neighborhood improvement, with sensible building permit and inspection policies, firm but fair enforcement of existing codes, and tax abatements to encourage owners to convert from multi- to single-family use.

When considering projects like the Xavier Convocation Center, Rookwood Commons, or Norwood Plaza, the first question should be: Will this make Norwood a better place for those of us that live here? We need to look long and hard at these projects and the impact they will have on our safety, property values, and way of life. Building on my efforts to protect our neighborhood from Convocation Center traffic, I will fight to preserve Norwood as a community instead of a mini-mail.

Open and balanced decision-making. No one person has all the answers. Not only are the people of Norwood a key source of wisdom on issues facing Council. Basic fairness demands that we all get a say in the decisions made about our future. If elected, I will open up City government to your input and restrict the use of "emergency" measures to actual emergencies.

Fiscal responsibility. If elected, I will right to control wasteful spending and end the practice of government by credit card.

As an attorney, I have fought for my clients in courtrooms and conference rooms. As a concerned homeowner, I have fought to protect our neighborhood from being overrun by development. If elected. I will fight for you. Please help me restore fairness and balance to Norwood government.

And don't forget to vote on Tuesday. November 2!
