Candidate Answers Questions on the Issues

The questions were prepared by the League of Women Voters of Hamilton County and asked of all candidates for this office.

Questions & Answers

1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?

While additional public transportation to and from Evendale might be helpful to some businesses in addressing their staffing needs, I'm more concerned about a growing need for safe and dependable public transportation for aging residents.

2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.

This might be an issue in some Hamilton County communities, but I do not believe it is an issue in Evendale. Therefore, without more information on the scope of this problem, I would be reluctant to support any new regulations in this area.

3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?

The benefits far outweigh any detriments. While land use planning might delay or preclude some developers from hastily developing a tract or tracts of land, the long-range benefits of a well-planned area are worth any short-term losses.
