Funding Opportunities

By Diane M Milbauer

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Class Size Reduction, Staff Development Days and Mandated Cost Programs - is the District submitting reimbursements ?
There are several outside funding opportunities available to the Newman/Crowslanding District:

1. Class Size Reduction

State funding after initial application is filed each
school year based on ADA and classroom counts. If we
meet the necessary teacher/student ratio, we should be
getting money back from the state.

2. Staff Development Days

New program signed by the Governor for 99/00 school
year. Newman/Crowslanding needs to submit an
application for reimbursement for these three (3) days
which is due in January, 2000.

3. Mandated Cost Program

State reimbursements for mandated programs, such as
Collective Bargaining, School Bus Safety I & II,
Pupil Retention, Inter & Intra-District Tranfers,
Open Meetings Act, etc. Are we participating in these?
