Our Fire Department is not staffed with full time firefighters, rather with volunteers who have regular jobs elsewhere. Still, all of us look to the Department for help in times of emergency.
Our Fire Department is not staffed with full time firefighters, rather with volunteers who have regular jobs elsewhere. Still, all of us look to the Department for help in times of emergency.

I believe to ensure that the Fire District is able to provide that protection - no matter when the emergency occurs, we need more firefighters/emergency medical personnel in the Department. It is also my belief that they need a true training program, both to learn proper skills and also to maintain the best level of preparedness.

Additionally, there should be increased public education training coordinated with our school. Such training and a routine open house (possibly every six months) will provide for better community involvement and awareness.

This is what I believe in and this is why I'm running for the Westport Fire Protection District office of Director. I would certainly appreciate your vote.

Thanks,

Jim Hiner
