Political Philosophy for Pat Dobbs

Candidate for
Council Member, Chair l; City of Modesto

This information is provided by the candidate

The hiring of a new City Manager and a new Police Chief are only two of the important tasks facing Modesto in the near future that will require mature, dedicated and strong leadership. The City faces many challenges in budgeting. Partnerships with Stanislaus County is imperative especially now that both governmental agencies are housed in the same building. The opportunity to consolidate some departments must be looked at. One of our biggest challenges we face today is reaching out to our youth. My vision is to include youth on every city council advisory committee. We need to indentify our youth leaders and have them recruit others so that we can come together in partnerships.

As a business-woman in Modesto for over thirty years I am aware of the "red-tape" and "high-fees" that discourages new businesses from locating here. A highly competent city staff that embraces the needs of the people with an attitude of "how can we make this work" instead of a dozen reasons why it won't is imperative.
