Traffic

By Paul M. Wright

Candidate for Council Member; City of Belmont

This information is provided by the candidate
Most residents agree that traffic has become intolerable in Belmont, primarily Ralston Ave and the Hwy 101 interchange. The two main elements to the problem is capacity and access. The city recently funded the "Ralston Ave. Arterial Traffic Circulation Study"which presents five alternatives for addressing the situation.
I support the "Ralston Ave Arterial Traffic Study - Alternative 3" (single conslidated Notre Dame College/high school access signal). Any solution which increases access to Ralston should be sensitve to increasing traffic in neighborhoods. I support new signalization on Ralston at Hiller St. I support proposed direct access to Marine Parkway from Island Park. I support auxiliary lanes to be added by CalTrans to Hwy 101. I support bikeway across Hwy 101.
