Excellence In Education

By Mark Weinberger

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Jefferson School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I believe in increasing the literacy skills of our students so that they excel in all they hope to achieve.
There is much to be done to increase the threshold for success so that all students may excel and achieve their full potential. This is a challenging time, not only for the Jefferson School District, but the state and country as well. As we prepare to cross the bridge to the next millenium, we can't afford to overlook those students who might otherwise be left behind. Now is the time to invest in our future...OUR STUDENTS.

I believe that education is the foremost factor for success. And to that end, I hope to contribute to achieving excellence in education for the almost 8,000 students in the District. The District must utilize all resources at its disposal. It must identify sources of revenue that already exist such as additional local, state and federal monies. Private grants must also be pursued, as appropriate.

With these additional monies, we must increase spending per pupil to not only be competitive with other districts but to attain ultimate excellence. I believe in putting the student first and giving him or her the best resources possible. This will enable them to go forward with the skills and knowledge they need to compete in life.
