Nadia Holober's parents were married in their native province of Trentino, Italy. Their honeymoon was a voyage to start a family and a new life in America.

Nadia was the first member of her family born in the New World. When Nadia was four, her family moved to San Carlos, California, where she grew up along with her brother and two sisters. Her father Tony, a skilled machinist, worked at United Airlines. Her mother Laura cared for the children, later working for the San Mateo County library system.

Nadia graduated from San Carlos High School, and received an AA degree from Caņada College. She was the first member of her family to graduate from college (U.C. Berkeley) and the first to earn a doctorate (Juris Doctor from U.C. Hastings College of the Law).

Nadia is an attorney in private practice. Her two sons attend Millbrae public schools. Her husband, Richard is an elected trustee of the San Mateo County Community College District, and previously served as an elected trustee of the Millbrae School Board.

Nadia Holober is the Chair of the San Mateo County Planning Commission. During six years representing Millbrae on the County Planning Commissioner, Nadia led the planning of the successful Colma BART station. She crafted an ordinance that made daycare more available and preserved open space for our enjoyment.

Nadia chaired the Millbrae 50th Anniversary Committee. In 1998, Nadia led a yearlong celebration of Millbrae that brought thousands of people together. Funded by voluntary contributions, the committee also donated new exercise equipment to our senior center, and left a legacy of gifts and a sculpture for our civic center.

Nadia is a Past President of Millbrae-San Bruno Soroptimists. Under Nadia's leadership, Millbrae-San Bruno Soroptimists set a new record in charitable fundraising and created an adopt-a-school program with the Millbrae School District.

Nadia is a Citizen Member of the Millbrae Downtown Process Committee. Nadia's planning expertise has helped the committee improve the appearance of downtown as a step toward attracting a better mix of businesses to our shopping district.

Nadia Holober's other community service includes: Officer, Green Hills School PTA; Member, Taylor PTA; Vice President, Better Health Foundation; Kaiser Permanente Community Advisory Board; Member, San Mateo County Housing Task Force; Director, California Chapter, American Planning Association; Member, ICF Millbrae Chapter 403.
