To find out what issues were on the minds of the voters of San Bruno, I mailed a survey asking their views. The response was overwhelming. The comment I heard most was, "This town is getting shoddy and needs to be cleaned up." As a 35 year resident and businessperson, this is not the image I want for our city.

Of those who responded to the survey:

  • 82% said they believe that the City of San Bruno should develop new funding sources
  • 75% said they believe that Redevelopment Funds should be used to revitalize Downtown or Tanforan Park
  • 71% said they did not believe the Street Fair best represented their community
  • 55% said they support construction of a new Police Department facility
  • 78% said they oppose any expansion of the San Francisco County Jail in San Bruno
  • 71% said they believe San Bruno Public Library services should be expanded
  • 84% said they believe San Mateo Avenue needs revitalization
  • 42% said they believe the permanent Cal-Train Station should return to Huntington Avenue
  • 34% said the station should remain at Highway 380
  • 88% said the City should develop plans for the Navy Base Property so that citizens can review and provide input

I want to represent the viewpoints of the residents and move forward in a positive direction. We need to redevelop our business areas, starting with San Mateo Avenue, El Camino Real and Tanforan Park. We need to have strict code enforcement on property maintenance.

I support redevelopment of our business districts and city infrastructure. I support strict code enforcement of property maintenance. I support increased airport parking facility tax. I support revamping or discontinuing the Street Fair. Most of all, I want to lead the effort to "Clean up San Bruno."
