Why I am running for Coastside County Water District

By Eva Coleman

Candidate for Board of Directors; Coastside Water District

This information is provided by the candidate
Did you know that CCWD has started a series of water rate increases? The incumbents are planning a major expansion at our cost, both financially, with higher rates and diversion of new income to expansion, as well as environmentally, with even more traffic and enormous harm to our quality of life. This expansion encourages the addition of thousands of new residential units in our community.

I have had almost thirty years' experience in business, financial and technical systems management, professional and technical development, and in customer service. My clients have included public agencies in federal, state and local government as well as many publicly and privately held companies.

As an eleven-year coastside resident, community leader, and systems management professional, I can help stop the misuse of our resources. With the help of two other candidates, I can refocus CCWD on its proper purpose.

CCWD's true purpose is to ensure that coastside residents, farmers and businesses have sufficient, reliable and safe water at a fair price. CCWD has a few simple jobs: uphold the law and tell us the whole truth; maintain the existing water system and keep it current with available technologies; improve the quality of our water; ensure that sufficient water is available for droughts and fires; stop using our money to hire expensive PR people and lobbyists to promote the $18,000,000 expansion program; find sound local water sources to reduce our dependence on San Francisco water (more than 60% of our is owned by San Francisco); and institute reclamation for more affordable water for agriculture and floriculture.

We will redirect CCWD toward serving the coastside community. Please vote for Eva Coleman, Carol Cupp and Eleanor Wittrup for CCWD. Thank you for voting.
