Burlingame is still a special place after nearly 100 years, despite tremendous development pressures up and down the Peninsula. When I examine the current City Council for new ideas, I do not see adequate plans to protect our town and it shows in how the City is evolving in the late '90's. Developers, absentee landlords, chain stores and the airport carry far more weight in City decisions than the citizens, seniors and parents of Burlingame.

We are very fortunate that Burlingame has a reputation for nice neighborhoods and great public schools, but I am the only candidate that will uphold this excellent quality of life into the 2000's. I have served on the Chamber of Commerce, ran the Burlingame branch of Bay View Bank and been the controller of a small business. I am the only candidate with children attending Burlingame schools. I would appreciate your vote on November 2nd.

Top priorities if elected:

  • Retain the charm of Burlingame

  • Increase City support for local schools

  • Compile an historical buildings list in order to protect listed buildings from demolition

  • Create a Teen Center

  • Downsize the 65,000 s.f. Super Safeway, the Storage USA and the Burlingame drive-in/office complex projects

  • Support our small, local merchants

  • Enhance and enforce our tree ordinances

  • Extend Design Review to multi-family and commercial buildings

  • Make Burlingame more bicycle and pedestrian friendly

  • Improve Cal-train to ease traffic congestion

  • Protect city services for Seniors

We can do all this, but not without your support. Visit our website at http://www.baylock.com to find out how you can help.
