I seek re-election out of my love for our children and to finish what I have started. Our district is rated among the top 15 of 1000 California Districts, with ALL five schools honored as California Distinguished schools. Despite the red tape, limited resources, and constraints imposed by state and federal governments, our district is a model of what is possible in public education.
Academic standards, accountability and fiscal responsibility have been my focus as a Trustee. Our goal is teaching to the needs of each student. We have reduced class sizes, upgraded every school and planned for growth. We have defined and broadly communicated grade level standards. 35% of our parents complete an annual survey. I take very seriously their suggestions. We attract the best-qualified teachers. We manage our finances prudently; we are one of only eleven districts with AA bond rating.
As the Board President I lead a cohesive team. I actively lobby with other districts in Sacramento to influence educational priorities beyond local control. I ask for your vote to build on our successes.
