| In 1992 the residents of Paradise Ranch Estates voted to raise funds
over a ten-year period to repave Drakes View Drive and do other
essential road work. The work was done in 1993 using funds borrowed
from Marin County. The authority to raise the funds to repay the loan
for the paving of Drakes View must be renewed every four years. This
measure would renew this authority for the final period needed to
repay the loan. We urge a "Yes" vote.
A "Yes" vote will not raise your taxes. A "No" vote will not eliminate our obligation to pay back the County loan. All of the funds that are presently collected under the existing appropriations limit for Paradise Ranch Estates are designated to repay the existing loan or to preserve our roads in Paradise Ranch Estates. If this measure fails, the loan from the County will have to be paid using the Division_s reserve for emergencies and the funds now used to maintain or upgrade our roads. If this happens, there will be no funds to maintain the private roads in Paradise Ranch Estates. The present tax will expire in 2002. The additional two years mentioned in this measure were added at the request of County Counsel to confirm the County's continued legal authority to collect delinquent taxes. A vote for this ballot proposal protects our property interests and makes common sense.
