Member, Board of Education; Beverly Hills Unified School District

The goals and campaign platform upon which Virginia Maas is running are realistic for the Board to accomplish. With four years of experience, she has knowledge and judgment necessary to lead the Board into a new and successful century.

During her one term on the Board of Education, Virginia Maas has accomplished:

  • Returning a full time librarian and counselor to every elementary school in the district

  • Improving the gifted and talented program (GATE) that now brings our elementary students to the Beverly Hills High School one day a week for enriched instruction

  • Lending support for a comprehensive review of our special education department that resulted in changes benefiting our children with special needs

  • Reintroducing art instructors in every elementary school and hiring a full time arts coordinator

  • Advocating for the return of the instrumental music program and music teachers to the elementary schools

With your vote and support, Virginia Maas will work tirelessly to:

  • Implement curriculum standards in English and math for every grade level, elementary through high school

  • Continue and expand the class size reduction program

  • Integrate technology and computers into classroom learning

  • Pursue ongoing professional development for teaching staff as well as additional ways to honor and recognize our staff's service and achievements

  • Work to introduce science in the 9th grade and history and social studies in 10th grade

  • Facilitate cooperation and collaboration among Board members to benefit our children's overall education
