During Bill's 35-year industrial career, he has worked in electronics, shipbuilding, cost engineering, publishing, architecture, geology, nuclear research, power generation, and rocket engine manufacturing.

Bill has held positions of Engineering Writer, Cost Engineering, MIS Manager, Project Manager, Operations Manager, and Branch Manager. In his current position with Boeing as Project Advisor, LEAN Enterprise and Integration, Bill is responsible for improving manufacturing processes through extensive training of personnel and creating more efficient production lines.

Bill is actively involved in training personnel into world-class engineering and manufacturing teams. He feels so strongly about his mission that he feels the free world is dependent upon the success of the education of our youth and our adults for the next millennium.

Bill feels that California has a significant advantage with its large variety of cultures and languages. From this base California is becoming a world-class state. The barriers of the equality of women, persons of color, and language are rapidly falling and it is schools like Pasadena City College that are making this happen.

The City College system is facing numerous problems at this time. One being the oncoming "baby boomers" where it is estimated that the student population will rise from 24,000 to 37,000. How will the colleges handle this dramatic increase to produce students that can become productive and cultured employees?

This is one of several challenges that the City College System faces in the future. Bill Jennings feels that he is a man for these challenges having surmounted formidable challenges during his working career.

Bill is extremely active in supporting the Community of Pasadena, California. He and his wife, Bea, are a volunteer team as Co-Chairmen of the Herb Garden at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. Together they continue to build a cadre of (currently from 18 to 45 docents) and established a monthly herb display and education herb program for children and adults. Bill spends many of his weekends and evenings preparing displays and calendars assigning docents for the subsequent month. The Herb Garden receives over 1,000 visitors a week from a variety of countries.

Bill and Bea are often seen volunteering at various fundraising events and hospitals representing the San Gabriel Wellness Community, the American Cancer Society and attending meetings for the San Gabriel Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Once a month they hold a cancer support group meeting in their home.

Bill spends one or two hours every other night analyzing various legislative bills affecting the Mentally ill and personally Lobbies State Legislator's on behalf of the mentally ill. Bill was recently appointed to the County of Los Angeles Reimbursement Committee for the mentally ill where he recommends sources of funds for support of the mentally ill, incarcerated and homeless.

Bill also has a strong interest in the local history and culture of Pasadena. He is a Friend of the Pasadena Playhouse, a Friend of the Pasadena Symphony, and a Friend of the Pasadena Opera Company. He also supports the Pasadena Heritage Society.

Bill even takes an active interest in where he lives by having been President, Secretary and at present Treasurer of their Homeowner's Association. During Bill's term as President of their Condominium Association, their condominium won the prestigious Most Beautiful Condominium in Pasadena Award.

Bill is committed to Pasadena's educational system, improving access to cultural events, and making Pasadena a model community. Bill would appreciate your endorsement and your vote on November 2, 1999.
