Political Philosophy for Michael Eskridge

Candidate for
Board of Education Member; Culver City Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I have spent the past eight years promoting changes in our school district...and the quest must continue to serve the needs of all children.

As a member of the Culver City Board of Education, I helped implement Sexual Harassment Policies, hired a new Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, started the process of school renovation and made the boundaries of the Culver City Unified School District and the city of Culver City coterminous.

I am appalled at the rise in school violence across this nation. The sanctity of our school campuses has been violated. I need your help to continue making the kind of changes which will ensure a safe and secure learning environment.

If we work to provide the kind of education which turns out productive citizens, our children will have better lives in a better society. To that end I have long worked for a back-to-basics reading, writing and spelling program. In the first year of implementation test scores have begun to rise. We owe all the children of Culver City a quality education.

Culver City has always been known for its fine school system. Let us not rest on our past accomplishments. With our new administrators and their new visions, our children will soar into the new millennium. I want our children to benefit from a Culver City education, just like I did!

I respectfully ask for your support and most importantly your vote on November 2nd. I promise I won't let you down!
