Candidate for Member; South Tahoe Public Utility District; Seat 3

This information is provided by the candidate
I support holding the line on rate increases: As a fiscal conservative I want to increase revenues to the Utility District through means other than rate increases; i.e., aggressively pursue grants funding; sell our reclaimed water - it's a resource; reduce plant operating expenses by taking full advantage of future energy deregulation.

We must assure the ratepayers have availability of plenty, clean drinking water: We are facing a crisis, MTBE pollution of our groundwater, which puts at risk our health and economy. The cleanup will cost tens of millions of dollars and take years. Who should pay? The ratepayers should not have to pay for that which the oil companies caused. I support the district's suit against the oil companies, unfortunately some of the local stations are caught in the middle. The So Tahoe PUD will have to drill new wells in order to supply the community with plenty of clean fresh drinking water.
