District Strategic Plan

By Kris Weaver

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Pleasanton Unified School District; Term

This information is provided by the candidate
Five year comprehensive plan for the school district is not being followed. The current board and district staff talk about it, but they are not following it.
In the fall of '97 I was appointed to the District Strategic Planning Team. Many people spent a lot of time and energy creating a wonderful plan for the future of Pleasanton Schools and action steps to follow to put the plan in place. Most of the issues raised during this campaign (high academic standards, student achievement, communication, community input, teaching all students, and student behavior) are addressed in this plan. The plan is not being implemented the way many of us envisioned. We need School Board Members who are committed to holding our district responsible for following the plan the way that it was intended. I know and understand the Strategic Plan and am passionately committed to implementing it.
