Academic Standards
ACADEMIC STANDARDS AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
It's time to assess our academic programs, strengthen what is working and change what isn't. Quality academic curriculum, high standards, appropriate staff development and strong student support programs are needed for all students to reach their maximum achievement potential. Let's work together to raise and support high expectations for student achievement!
Accountablility and Assessment
ACCOUNTABILITY AND ASSESSMENT
It's time to assess our current academic programs to raise student academic achievement. Let's examine all assessment data to revise our current curriculum and align it with the highest achieving districts in California and the nation. Let's provide strong support programs especially for low achieveing students. Let's offer appropriate staff development that is driven by classroom teacher needs.
School Overcrowding
SCHOOL OVERCROWDING
Overcrowding negatively affects student learning, the teacher work environment and neighborhoods. Student discipline problems increase, participation opportunities decrease, and multi-use facilities such as libraries, multipurpose rooms, bathrooms and playgrounds cannot support students' needs. Neighborhoods experience traffic congestion, parking problems and portables up against their backyards. We can do better. Let's work together to resolve school overcrowding!
