Political Philosophy for Daniel M. "Danny" Akagi

Candidate for
Board Member; Castro Valley Sanitary District

This information is provided by the candidate

I served as Board President for the past two years. Issues facing the Board in this time period include negotiations for LAVWMA's effluent pipeline through Castro Valley, completion of the District's new office building (without debt), paid off all debts and bonds, and attained the AB939 goal of 50% diversion of solid wasted from the landfill ahead of schedule. The future will bring difficult challenges to the District. These include implementing Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL's) to wastewater dischargers, increased garbage diversion requirements from Alameda County Measure D, and meeting the service needs of our growing community. I support public education and examining innovative techniques as tools to meet the goals and operate the District in the most cost effective manner. I believe my board and professional experience will serve our community well. In this election, you will be selecting 3 of the 5 board members, or the majority of the board. I hope you vote for me, and ask that you also support Meyer Elkaim (incumbent) and Dennis Waespi.
