A fifth generation Nashvillian, Lynn Williams has lived in the 34th councilmanic district for 15 years. She is married to Don Williams, Director of Engineering for Thomas, Miller & Partners, and has managed a home-based business working as a writer and corporate media consultant since 1987. An award-winning journalist, she received her M.S. in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University in 1998 and her B.A. in Mass Communications from Memphis State University in 1977.

Throughout her career in media, Lynn Williams has continually applied her work to the benefit of the greater community. Formerly a general sales manager for WLAC AM/FM, she independently created and hosted "Parent Talk," a weekly radio program that aired for four years, on WWTN-FM, and was co-creator and producer of "The Parenting Fair," a three-year community service initiative presented by the Woodmont Kiwanis Club. She developed and conducted workshops for Baptist Hospital's Childbirth Fair and the YWCA and has been featured on WSMV-TV, The Nashville Network, and WDCN-TV to speak on child care and workplace issues. Her articles about academic and religious education, drug and alcohol abuse, and other family-related topics have appeared in both local and national publications. In 1998, she traveled to Haiti to report on conditions of families in an emerging democracy, which resulted in an award-winning series of articles.

She is past president of American Women in Radio & Television, and has served on the boards of Family & Children's Service, Friends in General (General Hospital), and the Nashville Area Association for Young Children (NAAYC). She has been a member of United Way's "Success by Six," Buddies of Nashville, Dismas, Inc., and the Diocese of Nashville communication committees. She has assisted in building three Habitat for Humanity houses. The Williams family also volunteers with Room in the Inn and St. Patrick's Shelter.

Lynn Williams is the mother of a ten-year old son and six-year-old daughter who attend Walter Stokes Middle and Julia Green Elementary public schools respectively. She is an active PTA member, and edits the Julia Green newsletter each month for that organization. She is also leader of Girl Scout Troop 2261. Lynn Williams and her family are active members of the Cathedral of the Incarnation church. She is the daughter of Bill and Yvonne Stinnett, who now reside in Ashland City.
