POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY OF BILL PURCELL

I believe the most important thing a public servant can do is to help improve the lives of people. That's why I've spent my entire public career working on the issues that I believe make life better for children, families and neighborhoods: education, safety, economic opportunities, and protecting our quality of life. As mayor, I intend to focus on the people of Nashville and the effect the decisions and actions of their government make on their lives.

I also believe the government of the city should look like the people of the city, and that the opportunities the local government makes available to people who live here should be shared throughout the entire city.

And finally, I believe the political process, in its most effective form, helps bring people together to build consensus about the issues that face us. By working together and forming partnerships to solve problems, we can continue to move people and communities forward.
