Political Philosophy for Regina Patton

Candidate for
Council; District 1

This information is provided by the candidate

In my District, the issues are diverse because I have both urban and rural areas. In both areas, issues include the escalating drug and crime problems, quality education in safe neighborhood schools, traffic, increased benefits for the elderly, infrastructure improvements, desirable zoning that is congruous with surrounding areas and quality services for our tax dollars.

Issues specific to the urban areas are the need for a permanently funded, workable stormwater management plan and revitalization. Issues specific to the rural areas are improvements of basic water services and controlled development.

I am a "people" person and I enjoy being able to help people get solutions. One of the reasons I ran for Council 4 years ago was to direct attention to the problems we have in the 1st District. Just a few of the improvements directed to the 1st District during my term are:

  • Drainage problems corrected at Buena Vista, West Hamilton, Ames Drive, Boyd Drive, Bob White Drive, Stevens Lane, Cato Road, Scottsboro and Joelton McDowell Park.
  • Extensive Paving
  • Bordeaux Gardens Park Improvements
  • Tax credits for elderly
  • Resurfacing of Whites Creek High School track
  • Repair of Whites Creek High School swimming pool in next quarterly 4% fund
  • Walking tracks
  • 2 new full traffic signals in Joelton
  • Lighting for soccer field at Joelton McDowell Park
  • Beaman Park site work
  • 1.7 million now budgeted for 1999-2000 fiscal year for a new 1 million gallon water tank (to help correct low water pressure problems)
  • Installation of new, larger water lines for 1st District beginning in new fiscal year
  • Replacement of water lines on Cantarutti Road and the connecting Alessio Road, scheduled for new fiscal year
