Brenda Gilmore is Director of University Mail Services and Recycling Coordinator for Vanderbilt University. Employment has included Counselor at Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan Association and Director, Postal Services Division, State of Tennessee.

She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tennessee State University, 1984 and a Master's Degree from Vanderbilt University, 1988. She is also a graduate of the Tennessee Government Executive Institute and Vanderbilt Leadership Development Forum.

Mrs. Gilmore is a regular Panelist and Workshop Leader, National Postal Forum. She is former industry Chair and is currently an Executive board memeber, Middle Tennessee Postal Customer Council and serves as an Executive Director of the National Association of College and University Mail Services.

Brenda has also served the Board of the John F. Kennedy Susan Gray School for Children who have been abused and with Special Needs; Chairperson, Board of Margaaret Cunningham Women's Center; Advisor, Undergraduate Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta; and Chair, Faculty-Staff Giving Campaign for Vanderbilt University. She was a Team Captain for the American Heart Association Walk.

She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; other communicy involvement have included serving as Chairperson for the United Negro College Fund Volunteer Committee; and Editor of the "Tennessee government Executive Institute News" Newsletter and Board Member of its institute. Brenda has volunteered at Metro Schools and has served as a Project Business Consultant at Cameron Middle School through Junior Achievement.

A member of Fairfield Baptist Church, she serves as Church Clerk and Secretary, member Senior Usher Board, and Sunday School Teacher. She is a motivational speaker.

In May 1998 she was elected Democratic Executive Committee Woman for District #1. She is an active member of the Democratic Women of Davidson county and the Whites Creek Community Club. Mrs. Gilmore is a member of the Tennessee State University Alumni Association and Original Tennesse State University Boosters, the Nashville Urban League and the NAACP.

Married to Harry for 26 years, they have a daughter, Erica. She and her husband are foster parents to James Collins.
