Political Philosophy for Tom Neyer, Jr

Candidate for
County Commissioner

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as a public office holder. It provides a unique opportunity to make a difference and build a future for our community. When taking office in February of 1997, I said this community could be a "Great American Center" - a center of caring, justice, education, jobs, business, health, entertainment, culture, ideas, and leadership.

While I agree this notion of a Great American Center is ambitious, I have great ambition for this community. This ambition exists in proud awareness of all the people in Hamilton County can do. Every strength we need to become this "Great American Center" is here for the asking. Our greatest disagreements are over how to capitalize on our potential, never whether in fact that potential exists.

Thirty years from now, when the next generation of community leaders combat seemingly overwhelming challenges, they will look back with wonder on the accomplishments of the next four years. They will conclude that because of the solid legacy left them, they can continue moving this region forward. The opportunity to create that legacy is what this Commission race is all about.
