Dan Winterrowd was born in Sacramento and has resided in what is now the 4th Congressional District for much of his life. He attended public school in Sacramento and Fair Oaks, and graduated 7th in his class at Del Campo High School where he was Senior Class Vice-President, Homecoming Committee Chairman, as well as being active in the sports of baseball and basketball(All Conference, 1968).

After high school Dan went on to college and eventually became interested in the study of economics. He became familiar with all types of economic systems, from both an analytical and historical perspective. This study revealed to him the superiority of the free market system in solving society's problems. He eventually received his undergraduate and graduate degrees, and entered the business world.

With his hard work and determination, and with the hard work of his dedicated fellow employees, the family business which he manages has emerged as a leader in its industry. Dan has helped developed a strong loyal customer base that depends on him for a consistent supply of quality products.

Dan is married with two children and currently resides in El Dorado County. He is concerned about the increasing burden of taxation by all levels of government. He sees a disturbing trend away from free markets and toward collectivism. It is a trend which he feels bodes ill for our children and posterity. He does not want to have his children or grandchildren living in a socialist state that destroys individual initiative. He has entered politics to try to steer our country back onto the road of liberty, free markets, and prosperity for all.
