Responsible Development

By Marie H. Fennell

Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 67

This information is provided by the candidate
We must plan environments that keep both public and private interests balanced.
Responsible development in our region must be both economically and socially feasible. We have seen cases where our towns have supported development only to discover that there is an environmental mess to be cleaned up after the developer is gone. The additional burden placed on our citizens is unfair and we must guard against freewheeling development "at all cost."

We have also seen planned development which may be environmentally sound, but which takes property from citizens who can least afford the loss when they are trying to continue their businesses or to live economically. We must protect the property interests of our citizens from development zealots who fail to include the reality of living in today's world.

We need development which is fiscally sound, which pays for itself and which is socially responsible in protecting resources for our children and for the ordinary citizen who cannot afford the time and money to defend a case in court.

Join with me in supporting responsible development in California and especially here in the 67th Assembly District.
