If we are to move our city into the Twenty-first Century, we must capitalize on our many assets. We must develop our land to capture the most dollars through partnering with private industry as well as the government entities. Our Ravenswood Retail Center is a partnership with private developers. This development is estimated to bring to the city coffers approximately one million dollars in sales tax. We are also in the process of developing with another private developer, three office towers and a convention hotel. This project called University Circle will generate approximately three and a half million dollars for our general fund. We project a large number of jobs for our citizens from this development. The Ravenswood Industrial Park area including the four corners of University Avenue and Bay Road is another designated redevelopment area. The main portion of the area is designated for Federal Brownsfield Funds. This allows the city of East Palo Alto to partner with the Federal Government. We have an opportunity to work closely with our Stakeholders Group,Silicon Valley and the current property owners to develop a mixed use development for a diversified tax base and expand job opportunities in East Palo Alto. The four corners area is designated for a super market and small community businesses, allowing our citizens to participate in our ecomonic development. I want to return to the City Council to insure the completion of these developments for a diversified tax base and to make sure our citizens benefit from the stabilizing of our city.
