I am invested in preserving and improving Menlo Park's quality of life. I am capable of investigating complex issues and have innovative ideas for solutions. My qualifications include 8 years as a Systems Engineer for General Electric's Medical and Aircraft divisions. I am completing my PhD in Environmental Engineering specializing in Air Quality. Recently I was appointed to serve on the San Mateo County Solid Waste Advisory Committee. I have also served as a legislative analyst for the national American Lung Association and am an active member in the Transportation and Land Use Coalition.

Menlo Park is a wonderful place to live; however, intense overdevelopment threatens our community. I will only approve new development that benefits our community. The Sand Hill Road Project brings many negative impacts to Menlo Park. I will not be pressured to widen our portion of the road since it will lead to increased traffic congestion and over-development.

We must reduce traffic in our city. If elected, I will help define policy that encourages alternative transportation for commuters. I will work to increase shuttle service, improve bike and pedestrian paths, and reduce neighborhood speeding and cut-through traffic. I will continue to participate in regional planning to improve transit accessibility and frequency.

I am committed to improving city services and responsiveness to residents. I will work to ensure that the public process is convenient and citizen concerns are heard and addressed. I will support updating adult and family atheletic facilities, enhancing city cultural resources and providing quality computer and education programs.

With your support and your vote I will, as a council member, ensure that Menlo Park remains a vibrant community. Thank you for contributing generously with your money and time. I look forward to talking with you further at a scheduled neighborhood coffee. Please call or e-mail me for more information.
