My Philosophy Is One Constructed Upon Communication With Members Of The Community And Their Resident Groups . . .

I have a straightforward philosophy with which I believe solutions to ongoing and future issues confronting Atherton should be addressed. Issues such as traffic, aircraft noise, police services, the Town's budget in relation to limited revenues, planning and financing capital improvements, our park and library, etc. It is a philosophy that seeks realistic solutions to issues and problems while fundamentally looking to preserve or enhance the unique attributes of Atherton, both the character of its rural streets as well as that of its traditional neighborhoods. Ideally, such solutions should also preserve or enhance as much as possible the control our town should have over its own destiny. Realistically, such solutions should take into consideration the often difficult financial and budgeting questions that arise today in an era of limited municipal financial resources.

To resolve issues and find solutions to problems, I believe seeking a consensus between residents and their City Council accomplishes what is best for Atherton. I will do so by listening to, seeking input from, and maintaining communication with the community and its commissions, committees, and resident groups. This is the foundation upon which my philosophy is constructed, and simply honors the community and residents which the City Council serves.

My commitment is to be available to thoughtfully listen to all Atherton residents and to communicate with them as directly as possible. I embarked upon this commitment in July with a letter to all Town residents about who I am, my experience and qualifications, and why I chose to seek election to the City Council. That began a conversation with the community which I hope to continue with your help. I would like to hear your thoughts and views about our town and the issues you believe to be important. You can reach me by mail, facsimile, or email, and I will respond.

Thank you for your courtesy and thoughtful consideration. I will look forward to hearing your ideas and concerns for the future of our town.
