Candidate Statement

By Warren E. Vincent

Candidate for Board Member; Santa Clara County Board of Education; Trustee Area 7

This information is provided by the candidate
I have lived in San Jose for the past twenty years. I have performed civic and community service for over fifteen plus years. I'm a big brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Santa Clara County (6 years). I'm proud to have been there to help my little brother through his transitional growth from high risk to honor roll student. Education is my passion and number one priority. I am a national instructor for the mentoring program of a non-profit organization. I have assisted in the design of a mentoring program which has been implemented at Gunderson High School in San Jose last year.

It's because of this passion for education that I'm running for the Santa Clara County Board of Education. I believe that my years of experience, educational background and the knowledge I have gained through the years as a mentor working in the schools will help to bring balance and diversity to the board. I'm a member of San Jose's Human Rights Commission and as a member of the Human Rights Commission, many hard and non-bias decisions are made daily. If elected to the Santa Clara Board of Education, I would use the same discretion in making decisions.

We live in the Mecca of technology. The student of Santa Clara County must be educational prepared to participate in the future of this technology. Someone must be responsible to see that these students meet the needs of the new millenium. I would like to be that someone.
