Ballot Statement

By Rosemary Scher

Candidate for City Councilmember; City of Monte Sereno

This information is provided by the candidate
I have been a homeowner in Monte Sereno for almost five years. My husband and I are raising two daughters here, where the eldest attends Daves Avenue School.

I hope to represent families that are relatively new to the community. Specifically, I would like to insure that the city council address local school district issues in a timely manner.

I would also like to assist homeowners through the often arduous process of obtaining a construction permit. My background as a Registered Professional Engineer with experience in construction and code compliance will enable me to provide objective analysis and understanding to both town infrastructure projects and citizen building requests.

It is my position that the City's general plan and adopted building codes preserve the quality of life in this community by providing a public safety standard and framework for growth. An elected official's subjective option has no place in this government process. It is paramount that the city council make decisions which uphold the integrity of the codes without sacrificing homeowner's rights. All citizens of this community have the fundamental right to raise their families, build their dreams, and pursue their lifestyles without undue discord.
