I am dedicated to putting children first, and I am committed to encouraging community participation, business partnerships and city support to ensure that our students have the excellent education that they deserve,
Leadership in Education I have served on the San Jose Unified Board since 1994. During that time I served as president (1996-1997) and Vice President (1995-1996) of the Board. I was the Chairperson for the Measure C School Bond Campaign in 1997.

During the past four years, I also served as SJUSD Board Representative to the Budget Advisory Committee, the PTA Council, the GATE, LAtino & Bilingual Advisory Committees, and to the Bond Oversight Committee.

Community Involvement I a volunteered in San Jose Unified Schools since 1974. Prior to my tenure on the Board, I was actively involved in my children's activities at Carson Elementary School. I served on the School SIte Council at Carson asn I was also Carsons's PTA Treasurer. I also secured two $1,000 educational Grants from IBM for Carsob's science program.

My two older son's graduated from Gunderson High School, and my daughter and youngest son attend San Jose Unified Schools. I have been involved in the support and participation of fundraising efforts for our schools and community youth sports for 21 years (including serving on the Oak Grove Little League Board of Directors. In 1998 I was honored as the OGLL "Community Volunteer of the year".

I now ask for your support and your active participation in our schools, so that we may continue to make a difference in the lives of our children.

As a concerned parent, my priority is to enable our children to get a quality education in a safe environment. Their education is the foundation of their future and whatever they learn today will enable them to pursue a productive life.
